Agarwood contains a distinctive resin produced by a number of tree species from the Aquilaria genus, particularly A. malaccensis. This resin is used in the fragrance industry (perfumes and incense) due to its pleasant aroma. Since the beginning of the modern era (2,000 years ago), agarwood has been a commodity traded from the Indonesian archipelago to China, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Persia, Arabia, and East Africa. The formation of agarwood takes tens to hundreds of years. In addition, in the natural environment, only a small percentage of agarwood trees produce agarwood. Therefore, agarwood is rare and valuable. People usually call it “GOLDEN WOOD” and “AROMA FROM HEAVEN”. The most famous and highest quality agarwood is from Kalimantan, “INDONESIA”.
